Purchasing Manager

What is your role at The Wholesale Group?
Purchasing Manager.
What did you do before joining The Wholesale Group?
I was purchasing manager at Fairway for 12 months, looking after a mixture of frozen and ambient categories, prior to this I worked for a Seafood manufacturer as head of foodservice looking after buying groups and independent businesses in the UK and Ireland.
What do you do when you’re not working?
I spend quality time with the family on days out, cooking and of course chilling with pizza nights and films. I like to spend time being active like swimming, biking, running and the occasional DIY projects.
If you were able to retire tomorrow, how would you spend your time?
Cliche, I know but I would travel more around the world for part of the time, and I would attempt to be an author writing about my travels.
Who inspires you?
Entrepreneurs inspire me, particularly because of certain traits they embody. I admire the entrepreneurial spirit in individuals who have the courage to be mavericks, take risks, and push boundaries to achieve exceptional success – i.e Henry Ford/Bill Gates. Artists and songwriters inspire me — those who can create a song that brings thousands of people together, united in song. The power of music to connect and move people is truly incredible.
What type of business would you go into if it wasn’t wholesale?
I have always had an interest in property development, so if I could, I would develop properties and grow a portfolio, just need a few million to start.
What is the most interesting place you have visited and why?
One of the most interesting places I've visited was Malaysia. The combination of temples, traditional culture, and street art is amazing. Plus the beautiful natural scenery made it feel like stepping back in time but with great street food, lovely hospitality, I would love to go back.
What do you like about working at The Wholesale Group?
It's definitely the variety of the role—every day, I get to connect with a diverse range of people from different categories. Building strong, mutually beneficial partnerships with both Members and Suppliers is really rewarding, especially given the scale of the group. Plus, the head office team is highly focused, working hard on strategy and vision to shape an exciting future for the company.
