What is your role at The Wholesale Group?
I am a Retail Business Manager looking after grocery, non-food and licensed suppliers.
What did you do before joining The Wholesale Group?
I joined the group in November 2024. Prior to that I have always worked in sales, most recently at Tate & Lyle Sugars where I spent 11 and a half years working within the Grocery channel.
What do you do when you’re not working?
I enjoy spending time with friends and family who are very important to me. I enjoy watching sport and, to keep fit myself, enjoy running on a regular basis and entering races to keep me motivated and have something to aim for.
If you were able to retire tomorrow, how would you spend your time?
Money allowing it would be travelling. It’s a big passion of mine to explore new places and experience different cultures.
Who inspires you?
No one famous. It’s the people around me that I’m close to that inspire me the most. They’re the ones that give me the confidence and encouragement to try new things, take on new challenges, that kind of thing.
What type of business would you go into if it wasn’t wholesale?
Probably a family business along with my siblings. Not entirely certain in what field though.
What is the most interesting place you have visited and why?
Laos where I spent some time in 2005 as part of a year off work travelling. Probably one of the poorest countries I have been to in terms of GDP per capita, and one with a very sad and horrific history in relatively recent times, yet I found the people some of the friendliest and happiest I have come across. Quite an eye opener and thought provoking. My other two favourite places are New Zealand and Argentina, NZ for the stunning scenery, Argentina for the food and football.
What do you like about working at The Wholesale Group?
The people. It’s a great team that I’ve joined, all pulling together in the same direction and keen to help each other out at all times. In my past roles I always enjoyed the relationship building part the most and so I am looking forward to getting to know suppliers and members much better and working with them collaboratively to the benefit of all.
