What is your role at The Wholesale Group?
I joined Confex in 2009 as Business Development Manager. I moved up to Business Development Director before taking on the joint Managing Director role post Covid.
What did you do before joining The Wholesale Group?
I worked in the horseracing industry for 10 years in a variety of roles including working in Dubai for Sheikh Mohammed, running Stratford racecourse, in Marketing for the British Horseracing Board and running my own company selling shares in racehorses.
What do you do when you’re not working?
I have a couple of small shares in racehorses so love to go and see them at their stables and when they race. I also enjoy golf but am certainly more of a ‘fair weather’ player!
If you were able to retire tomorrow, how would you spend your time?
Easy – travelling, going horse racing and playing golf!
Who inspires you?
My mother continues to inspire me along with my wife and children. My mother has given her family everything in life, providing for us all unconditionally. I am so proud of both my children and the people they have become, which is mostly due to my wonderful wife!
What type of business would you go into if it wasn’t wholesale?
It wouldn’t necessarily matter as long as it involved sales & marketing and the opportunity to work with a happy & forward thinking team like we have at The Wholesale Group.
What is the most interesting place you have visited and why?
I am very lucky to have been on some amazing family holidays. Costa Rica has been a favourite not only because of the amazing wildlife (turtles, sloths, birds, butterflies, frogs, whales to name but a few) but also the amazing landscape, people and the fact the country is 99% powered by renewable energy. I would recommend anyone who has not visited to add to your wish list.
What do you like about working at The Wholesale Group?
It sounds very corny but the people. Whether you are a member, supplier or the team at HQ its really is a pleasure to work alongside some very dynamic, progressive and diverse people. Wholesale remains the place to work!
